BEAUTIFICATION AWARDS
The Hampshire Woods Neighborhood Association (HWNA) announces the “Beautification Awards program”. The HWNA will begin recognizing those neighbors that help to “exemplify” neighborhood pride through the beautification of their residence. Resident beautification of the HWN subdivision helps to maintain and enhance the character of our neighborhood and helps us build neighborhood pride and dedication in the maintenance and upkeep of our community.
The HWNA will recognize residents that “exemplify” hard work and dedication to their residence. HWNA will be recognizing residents based on the following criteria:
- The lawn is maintained with grass cut and free of dead grass/debris/trash.
- Bushes trimmed
- Yard decorated with flowers/yard art
- Appealing Curb-side features/ well-groomed
- No trash/ non-working vehicles
The monthly winners will be awarded a yard sign designating the house as the HWNA winner of the month. The recognized residence will be provided with a yard sign to be displayed in the yard of the HWNA home. THE HWNA will recognize residents from July through September. Next year NWHA will recognize residents from June through September. At the October meeting annually, a certificate of recognition will be provided to the awardees of the “yard of the Month” recognition.
To be considered for this award households must have paid their 2024 HWNA dues to Hampshirewoods@gmail.com through Zelle. If you would like to nominate yourself or a neighbor for the award, please send an email identifying the address and any photos that you may have to hampshirewoods@gmail.com
Kind regards,
Hampshire Woods Neighborhood Association (HWNA)
New Priority Waste Garbage Carts being delivered to all Southfield single-family households!
As part of the new contract with the City’s refuse collection vendor Priority Waste, all single-family households will receive a new garbage cart delivered directly to their home free of cost.
Every household (excluding apartments and condominiums) will receive one 95-Gallon Southfield-branded trash cart with a hinged lid and wheels for easy mobility. Most residents should have already received the new cart; however, some areas of the city will still be receiving them over the next few weeks.
At present, the new carts are not required and residents can still use their own trash cans. Trash cans cannot be more than 32-gallons or weigh more than 60 lbs. as those cans must be manually placed into the truck.
How to order 64-Gallon recycling cart If you don't already have one?
Residents should contact Priority Waste at (586) 228-1200 or visit www.prioritywaste.com to order a free 64-gallon recycling cart delivered directly to their home. Recycling carts are only provided upon request at no cost to single-family households (excluding apartments and condominiums) who have not already previously received one. Those residents who have already received the red 64-gallon recycling cart may continue to use them and do not need to order a new one.
Garbage and recycling collection days and routes will remain the same.
Priority Waste will continue to pick up garbage and recycling on residents’ designated days; however, there may be some fluctuation in pick up times. All other rules for curbside collection will remain the same:
- Place trash at the curb after 4 p.m. on the afternoon before scheduled pick-up and no later than 7 a.m. the day of your scheduled pick-up.
- Yard waste must be in approved paper yard waste bags or containers (32-gallon max) clearly marked with a yard waste sticker. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
